Our Dumbest Hour

November 5th, 2008

Following a loss, most people immediately examine the matter of personal responsibility.

Publicly or privately, the loser, lest he be too vain to imagine the possibility of his own fault, will question what he did wrong.  Barring a loss attributable to an unforeseen “Act of G-d”, the honorable person will discover a personal failing to blame for the defeat.

Then, if he is able to get up, he will try to correct it.

But the McCain/Palin campaign, the Hillary-for-McCain camp, the libertarians, the national security voters, anyone who had an interest in defeating Barack Obama would unnecessarily damage their psyches and their causes if they were to follow this behavior.

That would be our dumbest hour.

Get up. You are able. Fight again. But do not fault yourself, as you did nothing wrong.

You were not too weak, too distant, poorly led, disorganized, too far right, too far left.

You were good. You fought hard. You explained your principles, pointed to historical precedence. You exposed the breathtaking corruption of Obama’s fundraising. You pointed out his meager resume, his failures as a legislator, his stunningly dangerous and dispicable associate, and his duplicitousness.

You are not to blame. You did everything well enough to win.

Obama only won this election because the foundation of democracy — a free press — chose to collectively forego its responsibility.

Do not change your message. Do not “rebrand”.

Just focus all of your attention to restoring an objective media. It’s the one thing Obama’s campaign, and the left in general, will never be equipped to deal with.
